As a global Sci-Fi Fan Association, we, the Members of United Federation of Planets: Galaxy Command, believe that the ideals and philosophies portrayed in the Star Trek: Original Series, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery, Strange New Worlds, and all the movies associated with Star Trek are achievable for humanity. By setting aside all kinds of discrimination, such as race, gender, age, ethnicity, etc., we can work together to bring peace and prosperity to our planet.
Our goal is to make practical and responsible efforts towards this. We aim to achieve this through educating and mentoring our youth, volunteering in our communities and nations, and using global communications to better understand each other. We lead by example and aim to instill values of tolerance and knowledge in our children.
Our association is not just a volunteer group but also a social one. We offer Sci-Fi fans in different communities the chance to come together and share their passion for Star Trek. Members can participate in various activities such as gaming, model building, convention planning, website support, movie and episode screenings, bowling, etc. The possibilities are endless.
The United Federation of Planets: Galaxy Command was founded on May 8th, 1987, and has enjoyed steady growth in membership and chapter development worldwide. However, after the ascension of Rick Berman to Executive Producer, the state of the Star Trek franchise began to suffer, and fandom started to decline.
Now, the Joint Chiefs have started an extensive reorganization and rejuvenation of our fan association. Our goal is to bring back the strength of fandom and its historical commitment to community service while still having fun and making new friends that will last a lifetime.
Finally, we believe that the chapters are essential. Apart from your family, your chapter shipmates are your support line in the community. While one determined person can make a difference, a group of dedicated and purposeful people can create miracles.
The mission and purpose of UFPGC is to advance the ideals of Star Trek as envisioned by its creator, Gene Roddenberry, and make them a reality by:
1. We strive to eliminate discrimination based on age, sex, race, religion, ethnicity, creed, affliction, and nationality.
2. We aim to develop friendly relations with other organizations and individuals based on respect.
3. We support our communities and humanity through community service projects and fan-based activism.
4. We support the peaceful exploration of space through the collaborative efforts of all nations.
5. We support the advancement of fundamental freedoms of all social systems in order to achieve common goals.
6. We promote the rights of all sentient life forms to freely exchange ideas.
7. We support various civic and private programs.
8. We encourage imagination and self-expression.
9. We enjoy the wonder of the Star Trek universe as an outlet for member activities and creativity.
