After the discovery of a new stable wormhole in the Beta Quadrant of Federation space, Federation scientists conducted numerous tests and observations and determined that it leads to the Delta Quadrant. Even with advancements in faster-than-light travel technologies, the wormhole remains a significant asset due to its unique stability and strategic advantages.
To better oversee operations across the entire galaxy, a new headquarters was established on the only moon of the planet Terra in the Beta Quadrant. This moon, named Pacifica, now serves as the headquarters for the United Federation of Planets: Galaxy Command. The lush, 65,536 m² facility on the single continent includes multiple buildings housing offices for the Joint Chiefs and various departments and agencies. A large spaceport manages the numerous shuttlecraft and starships traveling to and from Galaxy Command.
Galaxy Command is responsible for coordinating Federation activities across all four quadrants. The new facility at Pacifica is equipped with extensive offices, strategy and status rooms, research labs, and advanced subspace communications systems. It supports high traffic and extensive logistical needs, facilitating efficient travel and communication throughout the Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta Quadrants.
Starfleet's historic headquarters on Earth, previously known as Starfleet Command, has been repurposed and renamed to reflect its updated role. Now called Galaxy Command Earth, it focuses on Earth-based operations and planetary defense. This facility houses various departments, including the Intelligence Corps and Communications Corps, and serves as a strategic and historical center. It also includes Starfleet Medical, the Center for Advanced Instruction, and a large spaceport.
Among San Francisco's civilian population, the site remains famous for the Fosse Menagerie, an extensive zoo maintained by Starfleet. Open to the public, the Menagerie features an impressive collection of alien flora and fauna from the Alpha Quadrant. Researchers from across the Federation study the unique lifeforms housed there, while tourists enjoy the landscaped garden surrounding the Menagerie, which remains a traditional venue for Starfleet officers’ weddings.
